One of my most common questions is how I make my homeware items. Well, wonder no more. Here is my process!
Make big sheets of colour using eco resin. I dye the eco resin and spread it out on foil to dry. Once it’s hard, I break it up into little pieces. Very satisfying, very fun.
I then make more eco resin in it’s natural colour and mix in the coloured pieces. I then pour it into a mold and leave it to set
After around 45 mins, I can de mold and get straight on with wet sanding to bring out the colours. This is one of the most time consuming parts
Once I’m happy with the colours, I check for any air bubbles and fill them using more eco resin. I then resand to get smooth.
I then leave it to cure for a couple of days and make sure it has completed dried out.
Final step is to finish it. I’ve chosen epoxy resin for most of my items because it makes the colours pop and most importantly, all items are classed as food safe. The first coat goes on and then need to dry/ cure for 24 hours. Then the next and another 24 hour wait and then for some, I do a third.
Done!
I can never, ever replicate a bowl/ tray/ egg cup/ coaster, however much I try. The colours, the patterns, they all come out differently. I love it! Every piece is unique and special.
I’m always happy to custom make pieces with particular colours. If you’d like something special, just get in touch and we can go from there.
